Over the years, being photographer of record for Hamilton International Airport I’ve been part of and photographed dozens of events, new flight launches and other photo worthy milestones. Recently I had the unique opportunity of photographing a test of the airports emergency response team.

Before our team of actors is on set (the runway and tarmac) they need to get into character with hair, make up and special effects. Even though this was a test and we were having a blast doing it, this is a serious situation and all attention to detail was taken.

It was a fascinating experience. The premise is that the aircraft is to land in a mock emergency situation as if they experienced a catastrophe onboard.

Once the aircraft is on the tarmac the emergency response team jumps into action - Fire response teams and EMS are first to arrive

Once everyone is off-boarded and the situation assessed, patients are moved to a secure area for triage and treatment.
